Hello, my name is Megan, but feel free to call me Miggy. I'm an art major and will be transferring to UW-Stout in the fall.

I post mostly art, D.I.Y.s , and eco-concious posts, but I'll also post things that are interesting to me or I think will be useful for others.

These are from my oil painting class that I’m currently taking. I’ve never used oils before, so it was a bit frustrating at first waiting for everything to dry D:

Buuuut, I think they turned out pretty good. We were supposed to experiment with how we paint an object for this assignment based off of random items (I had a broken ukulele, a paper lantern, and a handheld pinball game).

I’m pleased as punch at how the lanterns turned out. Let me know what you think C: Comments and critique welcome!

I was invited to participate in my local ArtScape on Main community artist project again this year. All artist’s in the project create an image that will be printed on a banner and hung on Main St. in the summer.

This year I had no clue what to paint, so I consulted my kinda-nephew Cameron, who is four-years-old and adorable.

He said to draw a tree.

So I did. Kinda.

Heavily Tolkien inspired, haha, I guess re-reading The Hobbit and starting Fellowship for the second time got me in the mood C:

Comments and critique always welcome. Thanks for looking!

Copy Pasta from my DeviantART:
Tried scanning this a couple of days ago and the only parts of the image the scanner actually captured were his face, crotch, and my signature.
I guess the fanservice knows what it wants.
Anywho, ‘tis His Nibs in a his glittery glory. Broody as hell, but oh-so fun to draw.

Doodles from this fall semester. Nothing too dandy (though I’m rather proud of that bad ass-lookin’ siren…)
You can tell what fandoms I had on me brain, though~

My final project for my Intermediate Drawing class.

It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot experimenting with different mediums and techniques. I’m pleasantly surprised with the result, I had no clue it would turn out like this—I kinda just let myself go wild on the canvas.

Tell me what you think! Thanks for lookin’. C:

H’okay, tumblads and tumbladies, the loverly Shari was my model for a photography project for school and did a fantabulous job.

Problem is Shari’s too damn funky fresh for her own good and I can’t pick which gorgeous image to use.

Please pick whichever Sexy Shari picture that tickles your fancy and let me know!

Thanks so much! Also, go check out Her Awesomeness in the virtual flesh

Doodles ‘11 and ‘12

Just some doodle made in my assignment notebook this year. Most are original characters.

God, I need to draw more.

One of my final projects for my painting class. Our class collaborated with a biology class and our painting had to represent a biological process our groups taught us. My process was protein synthesis (which of course my biology group had no clue what they were talking about DX ) and so I had to go talk with their professor about it lol

It’s semi abstract because everything I do in my art professor’s class has to be somewhat abstract FFFFFFFFFFFF Oh well, she got a job offer at another college so I only have to deal with her for another week :D (She’s a nice lady, but her teaching methods. UGH.)

Anywho, I’m actually quite pleased with how it turned out—and I got to use puzzle pieces for it! :B Our pieces will be displayed in the campus library for next year, but I really hope I get to have it after that >.<

Oh hey, guys, remember when I told you I was an art major? And made arts for a community project to be displayed on main street?

And then got a scholarship for it a month ago?

Yep, good times C:

No, but seriously I made this in February and this is supposed to be an updated art blog XD I’m such a horrible procrastinator.

Not my best, bu meh. Good ‘nough for two days before it was due 8D

Belated Magnets

Due to my super busy schedule with 3 jobs, first semester finals, and basic human necessities, (ie. the sleep I never get) most of my Christmas gifts are extremely late this year. I had the brilliant idea to make magnets for all of my friends because I’m cheap because homemade gifts are awesome! I’m sorry if I’m spoiling anyone’s present, I tried to leave my tumblr buddies’ magnets out of view.

and when you mix drawing with tumbling, you get this:

It was just gonna be some regular old owl, but then hipsterness overpowered me (Whitney, I hope you don’t follow me on Tumblr, otherwise, Merry Christmas, you owl was cool before you :D )

Oh hey, this is an art blog after all. Wow. CX

H’okay, so. This is my finished project for my Art 101 Animation class. We were given a week to work on the animation, which has to be between 500-1000 frames, and another week to edit it. Not a big deal, right?

Wrong.

Our class was too big and classroom too small for us all to work on our projects at the same time, so half the class was given a week to work on their animation, then the other half worked on their projects the following week. Our class meets two times a week for 2.5 hours. We got 2 and a half days to work on it in class, giving us a total of 6 hours and 15 minutes to complete the animation, which have I mentioned, had to be done on one large piece of paper, only using black and white media and an eraser? (that part wasn’t that bad actually, I’m just on a roll lol.)

A friend of mine in the class did some math:

If we were to draw a frame per minute, drawing 500 frames, it would take us OVER 40 FUCKING HOURS TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!

And even after all of the stress and late nights working on this project, I know for certain one thing:

This is what I want to do with my life.

I have wanted to be an animator since I was 12. I want to animate great children’s movies for Disney. I wanted to create the magical films for future generations that inspired me as a kid.

My final animation doesn’t meet the required amount of frames (only about 370), but when it comes down to it, I couldn’t be happier with my first animation. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it’s a labour of love for me. Hope you like it! Other fellow artists, I would love feedback or critique. Aw heck, I’d love feedback from ANYONE! Thanks for watching!

Sorry, long emotional rant is long. :,D
